Global software revenue has totalled $407.3 billion in 2013 as per the report from Gartner. This is a 4.8% increase from 2012. Microsoft is at the top of the chart with revenue of $65.7 Billion with a growth rate of 6%. Oracle is at 2nd spot with $29.6 billion & captures 7.3% of the market. SMAC (social media, mobile, analytics & cloud) is rapidly changing the way business operate & software companies addressing the new technologies. Salesforce.com has the highest growth among the top 10 vendors at 33.3%. Some of the other companies in the list are IBM, SAP, Symantac, EMC, HP & others. HP & CA tachnologies have a negative growth rate of 2.7% & 2.6% respectively.

IBM Watson Mobile Developer Challenge – Watson Powered Apps

At the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, IBM CEO announced about the IBM Watson Mobile Developer Challenge. You can submit the proposal at the IBM Watson Mobile Developer Challenge webpage. Developers submit their proposals & their plans for a new Watson powered mobile app. It will be judged by a panel of judges & 25 finalists receive access to Watson APIs to build working prototypes.From this, top 5 finalists will pitch their concepts in a live session. 3 winners will have IBM mentoring support and sandbox access to build the Watson powered app. Watson won Jeopardy in 2011 & mobile apps can take advantage of Watson’s cognitive computing capabilities to develop smarter apps.

Ferrari is one of only 11 brands (including Google, Hermès, Coca-Cola, Disney, Rolex and F1 racing rivals Red Bull) to be awarded an AAA+ brand rating and has the highest overall score.

Apple is the world’s most valuable brand for the 3rd year in a row. Samsung’s brand value has increased from US$20 billion to US$79 billion this year. Facebook has added 76% to its brand value this year & making it to 122nd position. US brands dominate the Brand Finance’s list, with 185 brands of the 500 spots occupied by it.

Interbrand’s Best Global Brands 2013 – Apple, Google, Coco-Cola, IBM, Microsoft, GE & others

Apple has gained the top spot in Interbrand’s Best Global Brands report. Coco-Cola, which has been in top spot for the last 13 years, has taken the 3rd spot. Google is in 2nd position. This is for the first time in the report that Coco-Cola is not in the top spot. Apple has seen a phenomenal growth in the last few years thanks to iPhone & ipad sales. Many tech companies like IBM, Microsoft, Intel are in the top 10 list.

This report is published annually identifying top 100 best global brands. This year, the total value of all 100 Best Global Brands is USD $1.5 trillion. Apple, which was in #36 position in 2000 with a brand value of $6.6 Billion is now at #1 position with $98.3 Billion. 2011 Most Valuable Global Brands – Apple, Google, IBM & others

Apple has edged out google to become the world’s most valuable global brand. The report has been done by Millward Brown’s 2011 BrandZ study. Google has held the spot for the last 4 years. With the rising sales of ipad, iphone & others, Apple has topped the chart. Amazon has overtaken Walmart to become the top retail brand. Toyota which was hit by recalls last year has bounced back in the rankings list. Others in the list include Sony, nokia, Tesco, facebook & others. Facebook has had the highest growth for any brand. Coca- Cola, IBM & Microsoft have maintained their first 3 positions in the 2010 Annual Interbrand list. Surprising aspect is Apple failing to make it into the top 10 inspite of tech crazy fans. HP has broken into top 10 slot for the first time with a good track of performance & acquisition. With 2010 still in the recession grip brand list indicates the companies ability to maintain the branding. BP due to its gulf oil spill has resulted in drop of rankings. Some of the companies have also made into the list for the first time. Interbrand considers a number of parameters to rank the brands. Financial, Automotive, FMCG are some of the sectors having a place in the rank.
