According to data published in Google’s Transparency Report, the number of requests, search giant receives continues to skyrocket. In the past month, copyright owners filed requests for more than 65 million URLs to be removed from search results due to copyright infringement. That’s more than 15 million requests per week, up from around 200,000 requests per week when Google started disclosing these numbers in 2011.
Most of the websites in the Top 10 are file hosting services that are often used by file sharers to host illegal copies of copyright-protected material such as movies, TV series and music.
