TCS GenY Survey 2012-2013 : Digital Habits of High School Students in India

TCS GenY Survey 2012 consisted of 17478 students in 12-18 year old group spread across 14 cities In India. This has been classified into Metros & Mini Metros. Metros involve Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai & non Metros involve Ahmedabad, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Coimbatore, Indore, Lucknow, Nagpur and Pune. 1660 schools participated in the survey. This survey reveals great wealth of information about the Digital Habits of High School Students in India. The period of the survey was Aug 2012 to Dec 2012.

Some of the survey findings are

1) Mobiles have become the principal device high schools students own across India & Metro. While in Mini Metro, it is the Home PC.
2)Tablet is the favourite gadget.
3)Samsung is the market leader in brands followed by Nokia, Apple, HTC
4)Android is the leading OS with Windows & iOS in the race as well
5)Facebook is the top social networking space used. Google+, Linkedin & Twitter among others.
6) Online shopping gets younger. 4 out of 10 children are shopping online today.
