Google has agreed to buy Nest labs for $3.2 Billion in cash. Nest Labs is best known for its Smart thermostat & the recently launched Protect (Smoke + CO Alarm). Nest will continue to operate under Tony Fadell and with its own unique brand identity. The acquisition of Nest by Google has taken the Tech circles by surprise & this will mark Google’s foray into internet of things.
Google has been venturing into things beyond search on computers & mobile. It recently acquired Boston Dynamics, which makes robots. Google Glass, Motorola Mobility, Chromecast, Robots & now Nest labs’ thermostat will provide Google with an array of information on the lives of People. Hardware, Software, Sensors & Algorithm provide a great deal of information on what is going on inside the home.
